BEE 4433 Antenna Theory

Today’s class discusses the topic of antenna array – a very interesting subject in Antenna Design.

Arrays are adopted for communication devices that requires high precision, highly directive coverage. Similar to the radar operation, array antennas allows beam steering as well as interference nulling.

BEE3233 – Electronic System Design SBEE

Dec 5th, 2020

The class focused on Verilog HDL : Syntax, programming and simulation, for both the design module and testbench.

Students gone through half adder, full adder and 4 bit adder HDL design. Not only is it important for students to be able to describe the circuit using Verilog, the must as well be able to translate the simulated waveform as to verify the functionality of the designed digital module.

BEE4433 Antenna Theory and Propagation

Today’s class covers the chapter on Broadband Antennas, focusing on 2 main structure – helical antenna and log periodic dipole array.

Broadband antennas are preferred due to its wide band coverage properties. A single unit is able to cater various frequency applications.

For this chapter, students are required to:-

  1. watch the broadband antenna video and submit a concept inventory review via KALAM feedback
  2. answer tutorial no 4 regarding helical and LPDA antenna
  3. simulate a helical antenna structure and discuss the operating mechanism of the antenna
