Interesting topics in the final DNAL :
Those 9 weeks come to today’s finale.

Among interesting topics that caught my attention 🙂 in this year’s Digital Maker Fair program:-
Panelists discuss on the impact and opportunity with data science in today’s digital banking business. Being curious, agile is important as it opens the door for expansion.
Among topics in AI that could be incorporated in school curriculum are problem solving, reasoning, planning, natural language understanding, computer vision, automatic programming and machine learning. Data analysis is the essence and being analytical does help to take AI ecosystem to the the young students.
AI does sounds intimidating, well as one might imagine that there must be together with robot or some sophisticated elements. However, AI starts with a simple statistics which can grow into regression model to other complicated models.
Understanding, analyzing and manipulating data are among AI features and can be easily incorporated in school curriculum.
Panelist discuss on modern farming systems targeting household market. Today, many of us are into growing our own food in our home. Precision are the essence in indoor farming systems.
Laura waked through her personal experience in making the path of her company in Gig economy. Being visible in Linkedin was her stepping stone to her successful career today. Among tips shared were to use the right #tags and make trending postings.
An interesting quote from the moderator was being an educator is like walking through a time machine, where by one learn in a past education system, however teach in current education setup, and are required to prepare the generation for the future education setup :).
well, isn’t that interesting!!!
We live in a fast moving era today. 30-seconds is only what it takes to be within ones attention span – the meaningful moment 🙂 .
Here, Laura and Tyler shared the tips and tricks to grab that moments, which include answering the following q’s:-
42 school children and teachers participated in this program, held in SK Sultan Ahmad Pekan.
The program embeds UMP STEM Bot module which is broadly divided into 3 segments as below:-
Visited UMP student, Rabiatul Adawiyah, who is currently in her internship period in TNB Pekan.
A walk through the electric meter reader in TNB Pekan, from the conventional analog to the current digital version.
Evaluated another intern in TKD Lambda, Phang Kha Seng, via an online meeting.
Happening this week, https://mydigitalmakerfair.com, offers a variety of online activities, from general webinar on the future of education, STEM workshops and forums.
One session that took my attention is the Cyber Security Curriculum for young children, presented by Mr Bruce Fuda. Such an inspiring session especially when Mr Fuda shared his delivery approach to simplify the cyber security elements, such as encryption, network and information security – to suit 10-12 years old children.
Looking forward to embed this in our outreach programs soon, inSyaAllah.
Located in the pineapple plantation area, SK Sinar Mutiara is one of a rural school in Pekan that we engaged in Project Ninja’s Program. 42 school children and teachers participated in this program.
UMP STEM Bot is utilized in the program. This STEM Bot offers a wide spectrum of learning platform for programming. Programming is an art of giving instructions. Precisions and consistency in laying giving these instructions is crucial especially when it involve communication to hardware.
UMP STEM Bot is an open source Arduino Nano based development kit that offers everything young makers and programmers need. The microcontroller can be programmed using open-source platforms which are the Arduino programming, the graphical programming mBlock as well as the MIT App Inventor.
The kit is equipped with LEDs, infra-red sensors and Bluetooth module. Also available are an ultrasonic sensor and a pair of micro motors and tyres. Bluetooth communication module are also available for users to explore remote controlled projects. The expansion and components replacement of the UMP STEM Bot kit is convenient as it is developed using on-the-shelves products that are accessible online.
The UMP STEM Bot complements KPM primary and secondary schools’ syllabus on computational thinking, computer programming, robotics.
For juniors, primary school, we adopt MBlock as a platform to program UMP STEM Bot such as below:-
Mentored by Mok Ren Hao and Goh Ming Qian, 42 students and teachers participated in the Project Ninja (Slot 4) @SK Seri Biram.
School children are exposed to robot programming (MBlock) utilizing the UMP STEM Bot technology.
MBlock programming allows junior learners to focus on programming concepts with minimal interruptions of syntax errors. These concepts are introduced in block forms – ranging from events, loops, variables – to sequential, conditional, events and loops.
Those 5 weeks were a great one. Now it is it. All the best in your pitch and demo.
