BEE3233 – Electronic System Design SBEE

Dec 5th, 2020

The class focused on Verilog HDL : Syntax, programming and simulation, for both the design module and testbench.

Students gone through half adder, full adder and 4 bit adder HDL design. Not only is it important for students to be able to describe the circuit using Verilog, the must as well be able to translate the simulated waveform as to verify the functionality of the designed digital module.

BEE4433 Antenna Theory and Propagation

Today’s class covers the chapter on Broadband Antennas, focusing on 2 main structure – helical antenna and log periodic dipole array.

Broadband antennas are preferred due to its wide band coverage properties. A single unit is able to cater various frequency applications.

For this chapter, students are required to:-

  1. watch the broadband antenna video and submit a concept inventory review via KALAM feedback
  2. answer tutorial no 4 regarding helical and LPDA antenna
  3. simulate a helical antenna structure and discuss the operating mechanism of the antenna

Creating Interactive Content for Online Learning

My philosophy in engaging students to the class has always involve 3 aspects; the trainer/lecturer, the students and the content. With education being affected to the new norm, thanks to covid-19, the content of a class/lecture is where I spent the most of my time as to assure attention span of students is maintained throughout the online session. There are still plenty to be done, but it is surely something that is I’ve always looked forward into.

In this sharing session, Dr. Ahmad Salahuddin Mohd Harithuddin, a Senior Lecturer from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) creatively deliver useful tips and techniques as well as  resources to create engaging session. Here are some of the snapshots of the session.
