Huawei UMP Open Day

  1. Huawei, a technology company established in 1987, has made significant contributions to the world of information and telecommunications technology. With its remarkable experience and capabilities in advancing telecommunications technology and digitization, Huawei has transformed the way we connect and communicate with each other.
  2. Today’s Huawei Open Day event provides us with a unique opportunity to learn more about Huawei’s vision and mission to achieve an Intelligent World in 2030.
  3. As a leading university in Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia Pahang is committed to establishing relationships with companies like Huawei to seek collaboration opportunities that can generate job opportunities and improve the quality of job skills of our graduates.
  4. Additionally, I am pleased to share that we have also invited 45 teachers and counselors to this event. The purpose of their presence is to help spread awareness about the future careers available in the technology industry, and the importance of acquiring skills that are in line with industry requirements. We believe that these teachers and counselors play a significant role in shaping the future of our students, and this event will provide them with valuable insights into the technology industry’s current and future requirements.
  5. Last year, on 28 December 2022, UMP signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Huawei Services (Hong Kong) Co. Limited, held at Huawei Technologies, Intermark Kuala Lumpur. The MoU is the outcome of academic collaboration to develop training programs, webinars, workshops, hackathon, Huawei Developer Group, and share expertise for mutual benefit.
  6. In addition, 30 staff and students have received professional certificates in the Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) Basic Course, which is carried out in collaboration with Huawei. Furthermore, there was a discussion of UMP activities and collaboration programs with the Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Technologies Malaysia Sdn. Bhd, Micheal Yuan in the CEO@Faculty Program in the context of lifelong learning, research, improvement of academic programs from an industry perspective, and staff attachment programs.
  7. We firmly believe that this collaboration between Universiti Malaysia Pahang and Huawei can bring significant benefits to both parties. We hope to work closely with Huawei in developing the technology and skills required to face an increasingly digital and competitive world.
  8. Last but definitely not the least, I would like to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation for the effort of the IEM Student Chapter, lead by Jeehovah, in organizing this event. Your hard work, dedication, and commitment to promoting industry and academic collaboration are truly admirable.

I would like to thank the Director of the IEM Club UMP, Assoc. Prof. IR. Dr. Chin Sim Yee, for her leadership and guidance in ensuring the success of this event.
