Petrosains RBTX Challenge 2023 Empowers Robotics Enthusiasts in Pahang

Pahang, Malaysia – The excitement of robotics filled the air as Petrosains, in collaboration with the Sports and Arts Education Division, Ministry of Education, Malaysia, organized the highly anticipated Petrosains RBTX Challenge 2023. On June 17th and 18th, students and teachers from various schools across Pahang gathered at the UMP STEM Lab to participate in an engaging two-day workshop, focusing on two exhilarating competition tracks: line tracing and sumo.

The workshop, a prelude to the main Petrosains RBTX Challenge, aimed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to compete in the upcoming event. It provided an excellent opportunity for students and teachers to delve into the world of robotics, learn from experts, and refine their creations.

Under the guidance of experienced mentors, attendees were introduced to the fundamentals of robotics, including programming, mechanical design, and electrical components. Workshops and interactive sessions allowed participants to gain hands-on experience in building and programming their robots.

The line tracing competition track captured the attention of participants as they focused on developing robots capable of accurately following a predetermined path on a track. Through insightful presentations and practical exercises, students and teachers learned about line detection sensors, motor control, and algorithm optimization techniques. They eagerly applied this knowledge to their robotic creations, fine-tuning them for optimal performance.

Simultaneously, the sumo competition track sparked fierce excitement among participants. With the objective of designing robots capable of pushing their opponents out of a circular ring, students and teachers eagerly immersed themselves in the intricacies of robot design, weight distribution, and strategic maneuvering. The workshop provided valuable guidance on sensor integration, effective driving mechanisms, and programming strategies to outwit opponents.

The Petrosains RBTX Challenge 2023 workshop not only facilitated technical learning but also encouraged collaboration and knowledge sharing. UMP STEM Lab – Visit by Pertosains CEO

Petrosains Explores Collaboration with UMP in STEM Education and Community Outreach Programs

Pahang, Malaysia – A delegation from Petrosains, led by CEO En Ezarisma Azni Mohamad, recently visited the UMP STEM Lab on June 16th, accompanied by esteemed members of the Petrosains team. The purpose of the visit was to explore potential collaborations between Petrosains and UMP, with a specific focus on community outreach programs related to science education and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) initiatives.

The Petrosains delegation comprised key individuals who play vital roles in driving the organization’s mission and programs. Pn Norhana Hamim, Director of Programs, Pn Shamini Balan, Director of Brand & Communication, Nur Syaqila Samsuldin, Head of Stakeholder Management, and Rahimah Umar Rauf, Head of Petrosains PlaySmart Kuantan, were among the distinguished representatives present.

The visit was facilitated by Dr. Nurul Hazlina Noordin, Assistant Vice Chancellor of the Division of Industry and Community Linkages, and Dr. Mohd Anwar Zawawi, acting Dean of FTKEE UMP (Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Pahang). Also present are Hj Amran Bin Abdul Hadi, certified trainer for UMP Bosch Rexroth Academy, and Dr Ismayuzri Ishak, MakerSpace UMP.

The visit to the UMP STEM Lab on June 16th also saw the active participation of members from the Pahang community who have been instrumental in supporting STEM activities in the region. En Arman Bin Tojid, representing the Pahang State Education Department, played a vital role in facilitating collaborations between educational institutions and Petrosains. His presence highlighted the department’s commitment to promoting STEM education in the region. Another notable attendee was Wan Rahmat Bin Wan Ismail from SK Permatang Keledang, who actively contributes to fostering a culture of scientific curiosity and learning among students. Ustaz Muhammad Dzulfikri Bin Mohd Dzulkifri, from SK Sultan Ahmad, also joined the event together with Cikgu Mohd Adzrul Bin Adzhari, a teacher from SMK Ubai.. The diverse expertise and perspectives brought by these attendees added value to the discussions and further emphasized the commitment of various stakeholders in promoting STEM education and community outreach in Pahang.

The primary objective of the visit was to foster a closer relationship between Petrosains and UMP, two prominent entities in the field of science education and community outreach.
