On 14 th September 2022, an annual general meeting for “UMP Academic Association” – PAKAD was held at AC Marriot Hotel Hotel, Kuantan, Pahang. The UMP Academic Staff Association (PAKAD) is one of the associations under the Malaysian Academic Association Congress (MAAC Congress) which combines all the 20 Malaysian Public Universities.
The association may conduct its roles at the annual general meeting. The PAKAD activities included an electing a board of directors, making important decisions regarding the organization, and informing the members of previous and future activities. At this meeting, the shareholders and associates had received a copy of the association accounts, review fiscal information for the past year, and ask any questions regarding the directions and activities will take in the future.
At the annual general meeting, the president of PAKAD presides over the meeting and give an overall status of the organization. The secretary prepares the minutes and may be asked to read important papers. The treasurer presented a financial report. Other officers, the board of directors, and committees also give their reports. Attending this meeting are the academic UMP members and the shareholders of this association.
At such meeting, the Secretary of the Association plays a crucial role in convening, conduct, and to attend the meeting. He generally supported by his Secretarial team.
For a lecturer like me, this AGM can improve the relationship between the lecturers, where lecturers can share their views on career paths in this platform. At the end of this AGM, there is also a lucky draw activity at the end of the program where I also win the lucky draw.
