On 13th March 2019, a training for 3D antenna measuring equipment has been assisted by Comrel Technologies to reveal the importance analysis on radiation pattern, gain, efficiency for antenna. This training has been done in Industry Centre of Excellence (ICOE) Lab, Faculty of Electrical & Electronics, University Malaysia Pahang. The advantages of this training reveals the importance for measurement of antenna efficiency among staff and students that already fabricated the antenna for their project. Four experts have been present tutoring on this equipment known as Professor Koo, Mr. Lee, Miss Asyikin and Miss Zureen.
In AMS18G 3D Antenna Measurement System. The new AMS18G series Antenna Measurement System is a compact, user-friendly system suitable for both indoor and outdoor antenna measurements. It comes with a dual-axis rotating platform (elevation plane and azimuth plane) and an integrated antenna plotting software. It is fully customizable for use with various types of vector network analysers. Sample MATLAB® codes are also provided for 2D/3D antenna pattern plotting.
Antenna far-field measurement system can determine the measurement for antenna pattern, antenna gain and another important antenna parameters. The measurement system of an indoor antenna is an automatic measurement system which is established based on Personal computer or intelligent instrument, with the capability of data collection, processing and analysis. The test system plays the role in monitoring computer as the core and automatically accomplish antenna far-field measurement task, by conducting and controlling the same functional peripheral equipment’s, such as receiver positioner, network analyser, polarization positioner and other component.
In the far field test mode selection, the performing those measures (data collection, storage, control) on the positioner and instrument, user can obtain analysis and process, display or copy, printout of the radiation characteristics and users can complete the following functions:
- The control of positioner’s speed, rotary direction and rotary range, the real-time display positioner’s position, speed, direction and status.
- In set angle range, it can fast and automatically search out maximum radiation direction of tested antenna and show pitch angle and direction angle of maximum radiation direction.
- For the testing and storage of antenna direction pattern: user can affirm simultaneously test in single frequency or multiple frequency ranges and save each frequency point’s test data separately. It can complete at least six frequency point’s measurement of antenna direction pattern every time.
- For antenna gain test, it separately scan and measured the maximum level of the standard gain antenna and antenna under test, adopt the known gain of standard gain antenna to calculate the gain of tested antenna, and then give out the gain curve of tested antenna.
- It can provides information in term of calculation, analysis, comparison and processing for antenna parameters in polar coordinates and rectangular coordinates. Furthermore, it is also perform movement, rotation, overlay comparison and analysis on direction pattern.
- Direction pattern index, such as: identified beam width in direction pattern, size of side lobe, depth of zero, front-back ratio, location of zero, and location of side lobe.
- Test result can be output in graphics, text or tables and antenna performance analysis.
