We live our life according to the rules. But there are things that we cannot control or at some points, we need to break the rules. These uncontrollable things are normally our plans. Have you ever experienced a situation, which is different than what you have expected? And these unexpected plans, have you always get the results, which turn out quite different, but much better than what you have expected?
So today, I, would like to share three experiences with each and every one of you. My stories, they were not going according to my plan but it bring so much changes in my life and it also change the way I think on that particular time. My first story is when I was a PMR candidate in 2006. I was worried with the results especially for the mathematics subject. Well, you know, as a student in a normal daily school, I was not well prepared to face a public examination but I knew I have given 100 percent. I arrived at the school early at 9 o’clock and the result was announced around 11 o’clock. A teacher asked all candidates to line up to get their transcript result. She also announced they have prepared a special line for those who managed to get great result 6As and above. I was not confident during that time and I went to the normal line to queue and as I arrived, the teacher was looking for my transcript and she didn’t find it. I forgot about the special line and I worried if they have lost my transcript. And out of sudden, the principal asked me with smiling on her face to go to the special line and I found out that I got the excellent result in the entire school with 7A and 1B! With that result, i managed to place myself in MARA Junior Science College (Muadzam Shah). I have planned to go to a technical school but I went to MJSC Muadzam Shah instead with the unexpected results ????.
My second story took place in the bus. I completed my attachment for two months at UMP. I bought a ticket to JB at 830 pm and I should arrive JB 6 hours later. There was a young guy around 20 years old that sat beside me. I greeted him with smile on my face. After 2 hours of journey, as my eyes look around, I moved my head down and I checked on my bags and other stuffs. Out of sudden my eyes caught a glimpse of a snake figure. I thought it was a plastic snake that our friend used to have to tease others but out of the blue, there was a movement, its head was moving and its tongue was moving in and out!!! I panicked and I pulled my two legs in the air while my hands grab his jacket, the person who sat beside me. I was like, “Beware, there is a snake underneath you and please call the driver ask him to stop and kill this snake!” He was doing nothing. When I was about to shout, that guy laugh a little and told me not to worry since it is just his pet. I felt so embarrassed and I slowly remove my hands from his jacket. For the rest of my life, I swear if I see that kind of thing again, I will not expect it to be just some toys. But before freak out, I should have asked first!
The last story for today is about the beginning of my PhD study. I asked my friends about their supervisors for final year project and I was attracted to my friends’ supervisor since they have an active research group, they conducted a weekly meeting to update and discussed about their research which is very good in my opinions. I planned to continue my study in master by research but I also got an offer to do a fast track PhD. I discussed with Prof Dr Nor Haniza and according to her, I should grab this opportunity to save my time to obtain a PhD. With her encouragement here I have completed my PhD and now working in UMP.
As a conclusion, it is okay if things are not going according to what you have expected and planned. You have to plan and let Allah decide what is best for you. It might have a rough start in the beginning but with all efforts you put into, it will give you a sweet ending.
